Sports Cesc Fabregas finally learns how to pronounce N'Golo Kante's name

Cesc Fabregas finally learned how to pronounce N'Golo Kante's surname on Sunday evening, despite playing alongside him for three years at Chelsea.

'Can someone explain why the commentators call Kante, Conte?' Fabregas asked on Twitter.

A few hours later, Sky Sports commentator Alan Smith had a simple reply: 'Because that's the French pronunciation Cesc.'

'Good to know after playing three years with him,' said Fabregas, barely concealing his embarrassment.

The man himself even confirmed the pronunciation last year, in a video with Will Perry on Twitter.

Kante joined Chelsea from Leicester in 2016, where he played with Fabregas until 2019 when the Spaniard left for Monaco.

The Frenchman even attended Fabregas' post-wedding celebration in 2018, so it's clear they were friends off the pitch.

Fabregas played 198 games for Chelsea, scoring 22 goals and providing 57 assists. Kante is already catching up, having been an integral part of the team since his arrival, playing 165 games so far.

Chelsea had to come from behind against Aston Villa on Sunday to avoid an embarrassing return to the Premier League.

Kortney Hause put the hosts ahead before half-time, but a quickfire double from Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud gave the Blues the win.

Chelsea are currently in fourth place, five points clear of Manchester United in fifth.

The Ligue 1 season ended early due to coronavirus, with Fabregas' Monaco finishing in ninth place.
