Sports Ramos picks up injury minutes after becoming highest scoring defender in La Liga
Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos was forced to leave the pitch with a knee injury after opening the scoring in their 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad.
The Spaniard became the highest scoring defender of all time in LaLiga when he converted from the penalty spot early in the second half.
Ramos' penalty marked the 68th in his LaLiga career, after matched Ronald Koeman's tally of 67 league goals last Sunday against Eibar.
Whilst former Real Madrid defender Fernando Hierro has scored 105 goals, some of his came from playing in midfield.
However, after a collision with Aleksander Isak the defender was forced off the field and replaced by Eder Militao.
Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane said: 'Right now it hurts a lot but that's just the bang I think. That's the good news but we'll see. Right now it hurts a lot.'
Karim Benzema doubled Zidane's side's lead before Mikel Merino scored what proved to be a consolation goal for the hosts.
Madrid have come out of the blocks fast since lockdown, with three wins as they enter the final stages of the season.
The timing of his injury is bad for Real Madrid, as they have recently pipped Barcelona at the top of LaLiga with eight games remaining in a title race that is really hotting up.
