POSITIVE THINKING- Umar Yakubu


I  am who I think I am, you are who you think you are, we are are who we think we are. Thinking is a form or interpersonal communication ( communication within oneself) , it defines who we truly are , our mind  control us . For instance , going for your first presentation and you keep on saying to your self "how am I going to say this things , how  should I project my voice , everybody will be looking at me, I am not sure I can do this " for sure the speech will not be perfect there would be flaws.  According to Norman Vicent  "you can if you really think you can".
Positive thinking is the idea that you can change your life by thinking positively about things. It is an emotional and mental attitude that focuses on the good and expects results that will benefit you. Bill gates said " I never doubted that I would be rich, I have always said I will be a millionaire before 27". Bill gates did not think it negatively he says he can and he did , he worked towards it and now he is the richest man in the world . According to positive psychology researcher Suzanne Segerstrom, "Setbacks are inherent to almost every worthwhile human activity, and a number of studies show that optimists are in general both psychologically and physiologically healthier. And also there are findings that  suggest that not only are positive thinkers healthier and less stressed, they also have greater overall well-being. Positive minds are powerful minds and we can achieve anything as far as we have determination.
Positive thinking is very beneficial for our mental health primarily because it eliminates any form of paranoia and negative thoughts that can cause depression and stress. Positive thoughts distress the mind, it prevents stress hormones from being released, thus, damaging mental health. For instance when Cristiano Ronaldo was a 15 year old player ,he told his teammates that somedays he would be the best player in the world, but there laughed at him ,but now he is now the best player in the world, he has a positive mind and determination.
If it's too much it Leads to laziness;  thinking too positive makes ones lazy and think all is well without working for what you are dreaming of . You will be like oh it would be great , would be great without doing anything . An old maxisn says " faith without work is nothing". It leads to over confidence; being over confidence without going for what you want or even getting it.
Our mindset motivates us to do things, we can't have a negative mindset and do positive things , we have to change our thinking if we really want to change ourselve and the world. Positive thinking plays an important role in development of any individuals ranging from the physical to mental  aspect.
