Sports Jose Mourinho 'aims to win the race to sign PSG defender Thiago Silva' who will be free this summer
Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly joined the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva, despite vast competition.
The Brazilian captain will leave the French champions as a free agent when his contract expires later this month and it is said he is on the radar of Premier League clubs Tottenham, Arsenal and Everton.
Mourinho is looking to bring the 35-year-old to White Hart Lane to replace outgoing Jan Vertonghen this summer, according to The Sun.
Silva made 30 appearances across all competitions for Thomas Tuchel's side before the season was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Regardless of a transfer, Silva will play an essential role in helping the club win the Champions League when UEFA's flagship competition is eventually concluded.
PSG qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Borussia Dortmund in the last 16.
PSG's sporting director Leonardo has, however, announced that Silva would not be handed a contract extension, other than one to allow him to play in Europe.
Tottenham are among a host of European clubs chasing Thiago Silva - who is regarded as one of the best defenders to ever play for Brazil.
Everton and Arsenal are also vying for the 35-year-old's signature as they look to bolster their defensive lines.
Ancelotti is keen sure up his options in Everton's defence with Michael Keane and Yerry Mina failing to provide the security he desires.
While Mikel Arteta is looking to reinforce his back line and could even offload the likes of Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos to create the funds to do so.
