Sports Aston Villa interested in bringing back Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham

Aston Villa have asked about Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham but the 22-year old wants to stay and fight for his place at Stamford Bridge.

Abraham scored 26 goals for the Midlands outfit and helped fire them to top-flight promotion in 2019, but has enjoyed a successful breakthrough campaign with Chelsea.

The youngster is keen to once again prove his first-team credentials in west London and looks set to turn down any advances made this summer.

Chelsea have recruited former RB Leipzig hotshot Timo Werner as well as Hakim Ziyech to strengthen their frontline, and playmaker Kai Havertz is also expected to join imminently from Bayer Leverkusen.

It appears that Abraham wants to be part of Frank Lampard's efforts to challenge for silverware next season - despite the recent approach from Villa.

After falling short in their attempts to sign Abraham, Villa remain locked in talks with Brentford for Ollie Watkins.

The 24-year-old is understood to be Villa's top target in attack and is valued at £25million by the Championship club.

He netted 26 goals in all competitions last term as Brentford missed out on the play-off final.

Villa's billionaire owners, Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, will again back Dean Smith in the transfer market after splashing out more than £140m for the previous campaign.
