Silva closes in on one-year Chelsea deal

Chelsea target Thiago Silva says he will decide his future in the next 24 hours after last night's Champions League Final defeat in his final game for Paris Saint-Germain.

Silva became a free agent following the 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich – sealed by former PSG forward Kingsley Coman's second-half goal – and he is expected to become Frank Lampard's third summer signing.

The Brazilian, 35, is close to agreeing a one-year deal at Stamford Bridge but insists he could play on for another four seasons and played down reports from Italy that he has already agreed a deal with Fiorentina.

"This was my last match at PSG," Silva said. "I am sad, I apologise to the supporters [for the defeat]. I want to thank all the fans for their love. I want to play for three or four more years and be at the World Cup in Qatar.

"Now I have to look for a new team. Fiorentina? Reports of an agreement are not true," he added in an interview with RMC. "My agent is talking to them and other clubs but nothing is signed yet. Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow I will have to look at the offers and make the best decision for me and my family."
