Tottenham told to raise Hojbjerg bid

Southampton have told Tottenham to significantly up their offer for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg or forget about a deal after Everton submitted a second offer for the midfielder, writes Jack Rosser.
Spurs are thought to be way off the pace compared to the offer of up to £20million, before add-ons, from Merseyside.
North London is the Danish international's preferred destination and after four years of service on the south coast, the Saints are giving Tottenham up to 48 hours to respond before pressing forward with Everton.
Furthermore, Southampton are hoping to secure a permanent deal for right-back Kyle Walker-Peters as part of any move with the 23-year-old having impressed on loan, especially since the restart.
Southampton had initially hoped for a fee close to £35million for Hojbjerg, who was stripped of the club captaincy after making his desire to leave for a bigger club clear.
However, with just a year left of the 24-year-old's deal and the financial constraints placed on clubs following the coronavirus pandemic - it appears that neither club will push much higher than the £20million mark.
Spurs have been tracking the former Bayern Munich midfielder since January, and while Southampton are happy to let him move on so long as they get a fair price, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is in no rush to accept anything which does not satisfy their terms.
“If somebody else wants to get him, then they must make a make a good offer," he said last week. "We have to find a win-win situation and then everybody is happy. As long as we don’t have this, he's our player and he'll stay."
