A short story by - Umar Yakubu
It started in senior secondary school , Olakunle was a new student of art class and Chioma was an old student . Olakunle was a shy and timid guy , he's always with his book and don't talk in class . It was the 1st term of thier S.S.2 , they started talky when thier literature teacher Mr. Basit Olufemi shared them into group for a presentation in a play and there were paired together, " Kunle let's do this " she said with a faint smile . After the play, there went to Mama Tayo, a Famous lady known for her Apethising Jollof Rice and Pomo socked in stew , who sells in a Buka very close to thier school to have some meal.
After that day there are always together, they walk to school together, walk around school together, walk home together, even sits in class together, Olakunle a back bencher now sits in the front , there are as close as an egg and a neat , there also went to parties together (graduation , birthdays) , and the bond begins to grow . Weeks later , a guy named Emeka , who was a science student of S.S.2 asked her out and she told Olakunle about it , which he agreed since she wants the relationship too, " give him a try " he said in a panic mode .
Weeks past and she changed toward Olakunle , they don't walk again, rather she walks with boo, they don't even go to Mama's Tayo Buka , she doesn't talk to him like before, she doesn't post him she only post his boo's picture (the relationship is still at it's peak). On a fateful day Olakunle went to meet Chioma " chi ch"chi chi let's go home " he said giving her a friendly tap " be going will meet you" she said . As he's going home he saw Emeka with a lady , in a class and there are very close , and he decided to let Chioma know about it. The next day he told her what he saw and she laughed, and moments later she went online and posted "what God has joined together let no man put asunder"trowing shades at Olakunle.
On a lovely Saturday afternoon , Olakunle was watching a football match with his dad when Chioma walked in with a sad face as water streamed down her soft cheeks " he.... Is a scum.....he che...cheated on me " . As the water continued pouring , Olakunle hugged her, saying"I never for once believed that guy " and share nice words with her , and there continue thier conversation , shortly she received a text from Emeka as she wiped her tears and left .
Moments later she posted , "forgive and forget ", without forgiveness there won't be love", " a soilder who has not fought a war cannot narrate what his superior saw " trowing shades again . After some time she caught him red handed with a lady in school and she was embarrassed , Olakunle was not present in school that day , she went to Olakunle's home and told him yet again " love is scam, Men are scum , won't love again till after University" she said . Everything became normal , Olakunle spent time with her and help her focused because in few weeks it will be thier exam .
A week after she found Musa ,and started aRelationship with him , this relationship is as short as an index finger , all what Musa was asking was s*x , and she is not ready to give so they broke up. A week to exam Olakunle already gathered all the liver and rehearsed all his lines , he sent her a text for them to meet at night which she agreed . He left home at exact 7 , putting on his jeans and a white T-shirt with a little touch of his father's perfume . She came finally and Olakunle gazed steadily at her and let our his feelings . She hug him immediately with his bouncy chest and whisper to his ear " no, we are besties".
